Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP has an experienced and stable Latin America team, primarily located in Houston. The group has extensive connections throughout Latin America, including Mexico, Central America, Colombia, Peru, Chile, Brazil and Argentina. It has a substantial practice of cross-border investments and transactions involving Mexico. More recently, it has worked on a growing flow of capital from Mexico into the US, including long-term investments in infrastructure. The team has landed a high volume of engagements from Latin American family offices, particularly those based in Mexico, which runs from lower-value investments in real estate to high-value investments into more sophisticated assets. The core Houston-based team frequently works alongside colleagues in multiple practice areas such as immigration, tax and real estate, to assist family offices and other clients throughout Latin America. Humberto Padilla Gonzalez has become a central figure to the firm’s work in Mexico and multiple other jurisdictions. Felipe Alice remains pivotal to the team’s practice in Brazil, traditionally in the oil-and-gas space, but now across multiple industries, including cement and technology. John Crespo has vast experience in Latin America transactions, particularly in energy and infrastructure, real estate and technology. Named individuals are all based in Houston.
