Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP's Latin America focused team in Miami is best known for venture capital and emerging company transactions in Brazil, along with mid-cap financings. The group features a number of Brazilian-born practitioners who have an extensive record in the jurisdiction, while the team has also expanded its geographic focus to Mexico, Peru and other Latin American jurisdictions. The group is especially known for seed financings, Series A and Series B financings for emerging companies and venture capital funds. Co-head of the Latin America group, Leandro Molina is dual qualified in Brazil and New York, and specialises in venture capital, start-up and emerging company work, particularly in Brazil; he now splits his time between Miami and New York. His fellow practice co-head John Haley has a background in transactions in the region, including M&A and financings, especially in the energy, infrastructure and technology sectors. Associate Rebecca Lester is a key support on many of the firm’s Latin America deals, especially in fintech transactions and fintech funds. International disputes specialist Luis O’Naghten left the firm in February 2025 to establish his own practice.
