The recent arrival in July 2024 of both Christine Xu and Oliver Zhang from Clifford Chance and Sidley Austin respectively has further enhanced the firm’s capabilities, and lays the framework for an increased level of ECM instructions within the thriving new economy sectors – in light of both practitioners’ focus on transactions within the space. Splitting his time between Shanghai and Hong Kong, John Xu regularly advises Chinese issuers raise capital via the international markets and continues to excel at GDR listings via the Stock Connect scheme. As well as transactional expertise, clients also benefit from significant overarching regulatory knowledge, most notably in the form of Roger Cheng, who joined the firm in August 2023 from the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission (SFC).
