Bech-Bruun’s dispute resolution team is active on many of Denmark’s most significant litigation and Supreme Court matters and has seen notable growth in international arbitration, particularly post-M&A. The group is also prominent in public law disputes. Led by Johannes Grove Nielsen, the team includes Anne Buhl Bjelke, a financial regulation and insurance liability specialist; Jacob Schall Holberg, who heads public law disputes; and Daniel Myhre Engell and Rasmus Schmidt, both strong in post-M&A litigation. Schmidt has additional expertise sitting as arbitrator.

Work highlights

Representing BCHG group, owner of Scandinavia’s biggest exhibition hall, the Bella Centre in Copenhagen, in a heated battle with a former minority owner in the High Court in December 2024. This matter was of huge importance to BCHG which would have gone bankrupt had it lost. The Bech-Bruun team led BCHG to victory, being awarded twice the normal legal costs in compensation to the client.
Representing the estate of Thor Shipping and Sofia Shipping in a number of disputes worth DKK 400 million, involving clawback claims originating from the bankruptcy of the clients, as well as in directors and officers (D&O) claims against former management.
Representing Udviklingsselskabet By & Havn I/S (City & Harbor) in an enormous, unprecedented environmental dispute with The Danish Climate Movement regarding the artificial peninsula “Lynetteholm” – 275 hectares of new land for Copenhagen, built with soil from local construction projects, for storm-surge protection. This is valued at over DKK 4.2 billion.
