The July 2025 merger between incoming Spanish law firm Pérez-Llorca and legacy Colombian giant Gómez-Pinzón Abogados is set to gift the already-international facing IP team with additional cross-border firepower — particularly in patents and copyright, where the Spanish entity brings significant expertise. During 2024/25, the group handled a diverse docket spanning IP filings and prosecution, anti-counterfeiting, portfolio management, and litigation, with an emphasis on trade mark-related matters. Department co-head Juanita Pérez specialises in IP portfolio management, where she contributes experience in trade marks, copyright and patents; she notably provides ongoing advice to Grupo Nutresa on global IP portfolio management. Fellow co-head Mauricio Jaramillo maintains a broad regulatory practice, with his work encompassing competition, IP and TMT law. The team also draws on senior associate duo Catalina Arango, who advises on portfolio management and IP litigation; and Juan Pablo Chaparro Torres, whose practice covers entertainment, technology, copyright, distinctive signs and franchises. In April 2025, senior associate Valentina Manrique Gómez departed for an in-house role at Postobón.
