New internationally-oriented boutique, Benavides Mejía Dispute Resolution, opened its doors in January 2025 to focus on representing companies in high-stakes disputes related to construction projects, shareholders agreements, M&A transactions and major energy matters, among others. Noted for its strong skill sets in both arbitration — including major international cases — and litigation, the team is commended by multinational clients for its ability to ‘propose strategies that generate confidence in decision-making within management teams’. The three-partner practice was co-founded by a pair of litigators from Baker McKenzie S.A.S.: Claudia Benavides, who was formerly global chair of the dispute resolution group at her previous firm; and Cristina Mejía, who generates ’positive impacts in the cases she has handled’. Additionally, Felipe González Arrieta, who was promoted to partner in January 2025, followed the firm co-founders over from the same team.
