Legal Export Abogados’ shipping, ports and logistics department is widely recognised for its strong capabilities in maritime law, advising a diverse range of clients across the shipping, international trade and transport industries. The practice typically acts for a range of regulated industry clients, ranging from telecoms providers to national energy companies, but with a particular focus on international shipping operators, agricultural exporters, aviation firms, marine insurers, and logistics service providers, primarily on complex legal and regulatory matters. High-profile cases during the course of the last year include a $15m arbitration concerning submarine cable damage, coordinated litigation involving multiple exporters affected by a transpacific cargo disruption, and the drafting of critical port infrastructure agreements for energy sector operations. The team is led by Rafael Durán (maritime law, international trade, ports, customs law, insurance and arbitration), who is flanked by felllow partner Juan Pablo Rodríguez (water law and litigation) and senior associate Fernando Olavarría (maritime law).
