Founded in 2016, tax law firm Ulloa & Cía ‘inspires a lot of confidence’. Acting predominantly for investment funds and family businesses, along with real estate, financial, engineering and retail sector clients, the 16-strong tax practice is notably focused on multi-jurisdictional issues involving the US, Luxembourg, Uruguay, UK, Colombia and Mexico (among others). Its representative expertise ranges from domestic and international tax advice, to corporate restructuring, tax compliance, corporate taxation and the  resolution of tax controversies. Highlights include advising Reuse Chile, a start-up that operates as an online marketplace for refurbished and open-box technology, on the tax issues concerning its capital raising. Co-heading the group, Nicolás Ulloa is a former PricewaterhouseCoopers Consultores, Auditores y Compañía Limitada (PwC) partner, who specialises in assisting companies and Chilean family conglomerates with structuring their domestic and international business operations; and fellow founding-partner and former PwC manager Adriana Zaidan also spearheads the firm’s international tax law department. Providing key support at director level, the workload of international taxation expert Gregorio Martinez Galarza, a March 2024 hire from PwC’s Brussells office, includes asset transfers, business structuring, and corporate and estate reorganisations; while in the tax practice’s senior associate ranks, Felipe Welkner, Melanie Russell, Alejandro Polloni and Bernardita Vercellino are the names to note.
