The 11-member team at Larrain y Asociados Abogados is composed of industry experts in project development, financing and construction. The group has played a key role in high-profile projects across diverse sectors including mining, desalination, green hydrogen and public concessions. The team is well-known for structuring complex infrastructure transactions for industrial and infrastructure clients, covering all project phases from ownership structuring, permitting and community engagement, to financing, construction and operation. Notable recent mandates include advising Antofagasta Minerals on the $1.5bn seawater pumping system to supply the Centinela and Antucoya mining operations, the Red Los Ríos – Los Lagos hospital PPP, and advising Pucobre on the $700m development of the El Espino copper-gold mine. Additionally, the team is advising ENAP on green hydrogen port projects in the Strait of Magellan, as well as on energy storage systems, desalination developments, and acting for several high-value highway concessionaires on ongoing operational and contractual matters. The practice is co-led by two deeply experienced practitioners: Jorge Granic, who is widely regarded for his profound infrastructure expertise; and Arturo Bulnes, who is highly experienced in public concessions and PPPs. Cristóbal Morandé focuses on energy and project finance, while Ricardo Peña is recognised as an expert in structuring complex energy and infrastructure projects. Carlos Aravena is a veteran of concession projects who has additional expertise in arbitration and construction contracts. Joaquín Larrain leads on diverse project mandates, particularly ports and energy matters, and also handles associated disputes. Recently named partner, Francisco Cerda focuses on tender processes and complex infrastructure project negotiations. At associate level, senior Javiera Méndez is a regulatory expert in gas and energy projects, while intermediate Michelle Inzunza adds further depth to the practice in energy and public infrastructure matters.
