The six-member life sciences practice at Bofill Mir Abogados has ‘extensive experience in legal and regulatory matters involving the life sciences industry’. The group is consistently mandated by both domestic and international clients from the pharmaceutical, cosmetics, medical devices, food, veterinary, agro-industrial, and hygiene sectors (among others). The team acts throughout the life sciences’ cycle, from establishing clients’ presence in Chile, to obtaining operational, marketing and sanitary authorisations. It also assists with product registrations, reviewing advertising, life sciences M&A, clinical studies implementation, and product-related labelling and technical literature. The department additionally handles public bids and other administrative procedures, as well as free competition and intellectual and industrial property; ongoing matters include assisting e-commerce technology company Mercado Libre with life sciences-related regulatory matters and advising German multinational pharmaceutical and biotechnology company, Bayer Group, on both regulatory and corporate matters. Practice head Andrea Abascal, a partner at Jara Del Favero Abogados until June 2023, is an administrative law expert who is particularly focused on regulated markets, including life sciences. At associate level, senior Anamaría Verdugo is a regulated markets and life sciences specialist; Andrés Sepúlveda's workload encompasses life sciences and public and regulatory law; and Juan Pablo Guzmán's career includes four years at relevant public agencies. Former partner Manuel Bernet and director Cristián Franetovic both departed the firm in August 2024.
