The three-member Chilean insurance and reinsurance team at Dentons fields experts in claims advice across the construction, energy, pharmaceutical, retail and infrastructure sectors. It is also well known for its representation of foreign insurers and reinsurers (particularly from the London market) in claims involving physical damage, business interruption, general liability, political risk, and directors-and-officers (D&O) policies. Its scope of work further encompasses insurance law-related legal opinions, insurance and reinsurance contract interpretation, adjustment processes, acting as claims controllers, and heading up settlement negotiations. In recent matters, the group assisted with loss-related adjustment processes, as well as recovery actions alongside the firm’s litigation and arbitration practice. José Miguel López is experienced in both Chilean insurance regulations and the London insurance market, his career including working in London as a broker; while the caseload of litigator Marcelo Alarcón includes insurance disputes.
