Well known for its insurance regulatory expertise, Prieto Abogados' seven-strong department has particular experience in the formation of new (or the acquisition of existing) insurance companies. In January 2023, the firm became a member of Global Insurance Law Connect, an international insurance law network with members in the US, Europe, Asia, Mexico and Brazil; while other recent developments include entering into a formal agreement with RAM Consulting, a Santiago-based insurance consultancy (with operations in Latin America), which allows the firm to expand its range of insurance and reinsurance services. With 20-plus years’ experience in insurance and reinsurance regulation, Patricio Prieto L's practice covers insurance product development, negotiating insurance-related contracts, policy drafting and product design; insolvency specialist Benjamín Grebe represents insured and insurers in credit and business interruption claims; and Fernando Samaniego litigates construction, profit loss and director-and-officer (D&O) claims. The practice further includes director Maite Larrañaga, who specialises in insurance companies’ regulatory aspects.
