Cariola Díez Pérez-Cotapos

Cariola Díez Pérez-Cotapos is home to a robust environmental practice that is active across energy, infrastructure, telecommunications and logistics, among other industry sectors. Acting as Chilean counsel, it regularly provides full-service support to multinational companies throughout large-scale development projects; the group is particularly highly-regarded for its territorial planning expertise and regulatory work. Long specialised in environmental matters (and previously in house at what was then the Comisión Nacional del Medio Ambiente), Martín Astorga is a  public and environmental law regulatory specialist with a focus on matters related to environmental impact assessment, atmospheric emissions and territorial planning, as well as issues related to public contracting. He co-chairs the department with Gonzalo Jiménez, whose practice centres on electricity regulation, regulated markets, administrative economic law and environmental work. They are closely assisted by senior associate Verónica Cuadra, a key contact for environmental due diligence processes (particularly cross-border mandates), who has also developed niche expertise regarding the extended producer responsibility law framework (where she has been involved in the implementation and approval of two of the first waste management systems).
