Gonzalo Fernández & Cía.

Founded in mid-2024, Gonzalo Fernández & Cía. is the eponymous disputes-focused micro-boutique of former Carey practice head Gonzalo Fernández. A 30-year plus veteran of disputes work, Fernández has deep experience of domestic and international arbitration under the rules of CAM Santiago, ICC, ICSID and UNCITRAL, as well as ad hoc arbitrations and served on the International Court of Arbitration of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) for two terms (2018-2024). He is currently acting as tribunal president, sole arbitrator and co-arbitrator in various multimillion-dollar ICC- cases. Fellow partner Arturo Fontecilla has over 15 years’ disputes experience and has worked alongside Fernández since 2020; his practice is centred on civil and commercial litigation and domestic and international arbitration. The pair are supported by associate Joaquín Torres, who frequently acts as arbitral secretary, and more generally focuses on disputes related to the construction, energy, mining and real estate sectors. Current ongoing mandates for the team include cases in the construction / energy, medical devices and mining sectors, among others.
