E-technologies to enable more flexible business models, predicts KPMG Consulting
The current model of shared services centres - where companies' business processes are centralised in one location to improve efficiencies and reduce costs - will go through a dramatic evolution in the next three to five years to allow a new global services centres approach, according to KPMG Consulting. Rashpal Hullait, executive consultant with KPMG Consulting, predicts that many organisations will establish geographically disparate operational centres around the world, enabled by developments in internet and wireless technology. This development in internet communications will lead to a 'commoditisation' in companies' business processes - such as finance and purchasing - increasing efficiencies and reducing operational costs.
