The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has recently adopted a procedure regarding the application for and transfer of emissions reductions units generated after 2012 through Joint Implementation (JI) projects under Article 6 of the Kyoto Protocol.

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has recently adopted a procedure regarding the application for and transfer of emissions reductions units generated after 2012 through Joint Implementation (JI) projects under Article 6 of the Kyoto Protocol. The procedure has not been published yet and will enter into force upon publication.

Pursuant to the procedure, the National Environmental Investments Agency of Ukraine (NEIA) may transfer assigned amount units (AAUs) to an investor of a JI project in the amount of:

(1) 75 % of the anticipated post-2012 emissions reductions, if at the time of application, at least one verification report as to the reductions already achieved will be available; or
