The draft text of the European Union Artificial Intelligence Act ("AIA") was first announced by the European Commission in April 20211. Last June, the European Parliament announced the amendments to the draft AIA2.

One of the amendments made by the Parliament in this direction was Article 29a entitled "Fundamental Rights Impact Assessment for High-risk Artificial Intelligence Systems". On 9 December 2023, the trilogue among the European Council, the European Parliament, and the European Commission reached an agreement on the AIA3. The agreed text has not yet been announced to the public due to the ongoing technical meetings.

Türkiye Artificial Intelligence Action Plan (2026–2030) Published

The Presidential Circular dated 17.08.2026 and numbered 2026/9 (the “Circular”), published in the Official Gazette dated 18.08.2026 and numbered 33344, has put into effect the Türkiye Artificial Intelligence Action Plan (2026–2030) (the “Action Plan”), which sets out Türkiye’s roadmap for artificial intelligence policies for the 2026–2030 period. The Action Plan has also been published on the official website of the Ministry of Industry and Technology.
