What is the change:

The Law on Foreign and International Protection, law numbered 6548, has been put in effect. The changes are:

  • Work permits will also serve as residence permits. In other words, a foreigner who obtains a  work permit shall  automatically receive a residence permit. The residence permit will be valid until the expiry date of the work permit.
  • The residence permit process, which is currently executed by the local Security Directorate, will be undertaken by the recently established  Ministry of Interior Directorate General of Migration Management during 2015.
