On 17 December 2009 the Verkhovna Rada (Parliament) of Ukraine introduced changes to the Law "On the Quality and Safety of Food Products" (the "Amended Law"), which are pending President’s signature.

On March 3, 2009 the State Committee of Ukraine on Policy and Entrepreneurship, and the State Inspection for Control over the Quality of Medicinal Products approved Joint Order No. 44/27 "On New Licensing Conditions for Conducting of Economic Activity of Production, Wholesale and Retail Sale of the Medicinal Products" (the "Order").

On 02 December 2010 the Ukrainian Parliament adopted the Law on General Safety of Non-Food Products No. 2736-VI (the "Law").

On 02 December 2010 the Ukrainian Parliament adоpted the Law on State Market Supervision and Control over Non-Food Products No. 2735-VI (the "Law").

It goes without saying that in the vast majority of cases, franchising is employed to exploit the products to the enduser consumers – individuals.

The State Service of Ukraine on Safety of Foodstuffs and Consumer Protection (the "Food Safety State Service") is the single competent authority implementing the state policy in the field of food safety.
