On 3 August 2008, it became possible for utility businesses to impose transmission easements on properties to facilitate the supply and/or removal of liquid, steam, gas or electric energy.

The Polish law has seen some recent developments which are relevant for the energy sector, including the introduction of the utility easement (already in force) and new regulations regarding the connection of power plants to the distribution network, which should soon be adopted.

On June 9, 2016, the Lower House of the Polish Parliament passed the Development of Telecom Services and Networks Support and Other Amendments Act, known as "Mega-Act Amendment".

On July 28, 2016, a far-reaching amendment to the Public Procurement Law (PPL) takes effect.
