1. Identifying Assets in the Jurisdiction

1.1 Options to Identify Another Party's Asset Position

There are several databases available used by enforcement agents (but not for public access) to search and identify the asset position of another party against which enforcement is being sought. These include:

• Enforcement Online Registry (Registo Informático de Execuções);
• databases of the Tax Authority;
• databases of the Social Security Institute;
• public registry information such as real estate registry, commercial registry, car vehicle registry, legal entities registry, or civil registry; and
• databases of the Bank of Portugal.

Subject to judicial authorisation, Portuguese law also provides for the possibility of accessing information subject to confidentiality regimes.
