We had a successful funds roadshow to South Africa in February.
We held some informative breakfast briefings in Johannesburg and
Cape Town and attended the SAVCA conference in Stellenbosch, which
was well attended. We had great interest in Guernsey as a
jurisdiction both for traditional investment firms and the private
equity sector, and it's clear that the island is now being seen
as a real competitor to Mauritius as a specialist global centre for
Africa. The delegation also had the opportunity to network during
the breaks at the conference.
We also organised some interesting meetings with South African
investment managers and other financial institutions in
Johannesburg and Cape Town where the delegation discussed real
opportunities for Guernsey with one South African investment
management firm advising that they were actually in the process of
establishing their Guernsey management
