The Government is expected to approve a proposal for the increase of the excise tax on fuels, tobacco and alcohol as of 1 January 1998. Gasoline would rise in price by Ke 1 per litre, cigarettes by KŠ 1 per pack and spirits by Ke 3 per litre. The increase will also be applied in relation to excise tax on beer.
