Could you share an example of a time when you came up with an innovation that improved how your legal team works and did not come at a large expense?    

Siemens is centrally working towards innovative solutions to improve the legal teams’ work, being also cost-sensitive, such as virtual assistant tools for contract/claim management, among others) – local contribution is mainly relevant towards standardising documents and processes addressing local considerations. Further to the above tools and standardisation processes, we have created a database locally and maintained it to support business needs regarding the companies’ legalisation requirements effectively. In contrast, we develop pagers with frequently asked questions/topics in parallel to ensure an enhanced and practical approach to reoccurring topics.   

What are the most significant cases or transactions that your legal team has recently been involved in? 

Siemens’ legal team also supports Siemens Mobility and Siemens Healthcare in Greece; therefore, it is always a challenge to address daily different industries and relevant needs. During the last years, in the framework of global organisational changes and portfolio diversification, we have had the opportunity to work on various corporate projects and to address parallel business opportunities in new fields, working with interdisciplinary teams. 

How important is choosing to work with external lawyers who align with your company’s values? Are you likely to reconsider what firms you work with based on this?    

We perceive our external lawyers not solely as service providers but as our business partners; therefore, the latter must share our company’s business conduct guidelines and values. It is a pleasure to work with top-tier firms of similar standards, and it is an important parameter when choosing to introduce a law firm in the Siemens Law Firms Panel.
