Career Biography

Juliet Lucima Akot is a seasoned legal professional with over 10 years of experience in private practice, the telecommunications and digital economy sectors, having honed her skills at a top-tier law firm in Rwanda, a leading Global Mobile Network Operator, and now in a dynamic fast growing fintech company. She holds a Bachelor of Laws Degree from Makerere University Kampala, a Diploma in Legal Practice from the Institute of Legal Practice and Development, Rwanda and a Master of Laws (LLM) in International Law and Legal Studies from the University of South Wales, United Kingdom. 

Her expertise includes regulatory assessment and advisory, drafting and reviewing legal documents, providing strategic legal advisory services, and leading contract negotiations. Juliet was a key member of the legal team at Airtel Rwanda, that successfully managed the Airtel-Tigo merger, a landmark transaction in the region as well as taking lead in the separation of mobile money business from the core telecom business. 

At Flow Juliet plays a pivotal role in keeping abreast with the legal and regulatory environment that Flow operates in different African markets and in the regional fundraising team as Investor relations lead. She was the lead in securing an Operating License for Flow from the Central Bank of Rwanda and remains the liaison between the company and multiple regulators in both Rwanda and Uganda. Juliet leads the Flow team in East Africa in managing due diligence exercises and has closed a number of both equity and debt deals involving a mix of impact and commercial investors that unlocked vast growth opportunities for the company in the last three years. She has represented Flow in various accelerator programs and pitch competitions such as the Africa Fintech Summit (2024 winner), East Africa Investment Forum (2024), Latitude 59 (2024) Sankalp Africa Summit (2024/2025), Africa Tech Summit Fintech of the Year Nominee (2025), JICA Ninja Accelerator Program (Japan 2025) She remains an active member of the alumni network of them all. 

Beyond her professional pursuits, Juliet is deeply committed to mentoring young women and girls through the Girls for Girls (G4G) Initiative which aims at empowering the next generation of women and girls to step into leadership roles across various fields.
