Career Biography

Edgar Miguel Marmolejos Santos is a lawyer and financial sector executive with more than 15 years of experience leading legal strategies for financial institutions and major companies in the Dominican Republic. His expertise spans banking, corporate, financial and procedural law, as well as asset recovery, with particular experience in complex litigation, legal risk management, strategic advice and the implementation of legal solutions focused on asset protection and regulatory compliance.

He holds a Law degree from Universidad Iberoamericana (UNIBE) and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in International Trade at EUDE Business School, further developing his expertise in international business, global trade and investment. His academic background also includes executive programmes, diplomas and specialised training from institutions including FINJUS, New York University (NYU), the Supreme Court of Justice, Siana Graduate School, Gaceta Judicial and UNIBE, covering areas such as international commercial arbitration, trusts, civil and commercial contracting, human rights, social security and dispute resolution.

Marmolejos began his career in 2011 at Banco Popular Dominicano, where he served as Senior Lawyer and worked on credit recovery, civil and commercial litigation, enforcement of guarantees and specialised legal advice. He subsequently joined Banreservas as Legal Counsel, advising on significant regulatory, contractual and contentious matters. He later served as Legal Manager at International Consulting Group, leading corporate legal strategies, advising on commercial transactions and coordinating legal projects for domestic and international clients.

He currently serves as Litigation and Attachments Manager at Banco Caribe, where he leads the legal strategy for contentious proceedings, judicial asset recovery, conservatory measures, enforcement of guarantees and legal risk mitigation. He also coordinates multidisciplinary teams, contributing to the protection of the bank’s interests and the strengthening of its corporate governance.

Throughout his career, Marmolejos has combined legal expertise with strong commercial judgement, contributing to strategic decision-making, internal policy development, legal process optimisation and risk management. His experience encompasses complex litigation, settlement negotiations, contractual structuring, corporate law, regulatory compliance and strategic advice to senior management.

He has extensive experience leading teams and complex projects in highly regulated environments, combining legal expertise with a corporate perspective focused on value creation, institutional sustainability, and effective risk management.
