First, can you please give us an idea of the sort of work your team has done recently? 

Given the high vision of the company and the breadth of its operations and in accordance with its reliable growth drive, we have participated in various legal transactions that contribute to its continued growth and the development/competitiveness of our region and the country, promoting its security legal and the attraction of sustainable investments. 

In particular, we have managed to successfully complete strategic alliances with companies, set up new businesses and contribute to their national and international expansion. Such projects have required investigations and arduous analysis, especially in the corporate, regulatory and real estate legal order, among others. 

How do you stay up-to-date with changes in laws and regulations in the Dominican Republic relevant to your organisation’s industry? 

Essentially, we rigorously monitor legal or regulatory initiatives, via the official pages of the entities in charge of their discussion and/or issuance, subscription to national and international magazines and associations and active participation in the legal committees of national and international entities. 

Likewise, we promote in-house training for the work team and related departments, to deepen the knowledge and discussion of initiatives or legislation-norms of interest to the company, the area and the country, based on a proactive and constructive approach. 

Additionally, we try to teach in universities and local entities, to promote analysis and reciprocal learning, given the certainty that the teacher usually learns as much or more than what he teaches and that the ability to unlearn and learn continuously is the challenge. and added value of every human being.

What is a cause, business related or otherwise, that you care about, and why? 

There is a need to continue and conclude the streamlining of processes in national organisations that support different operations, projects and transactions. 

Although multiple programs and initiatives have been implemented in the country for this streamlining, it must prioritize the lifting of all processes, end to end, and integrate them to stimulate efficiencies and a uniform vision. 

Single windows, for example, are a relevant step forward, but they must be able to migrate to greater synergies, standardisation-alignment and consolidation for continuous improvement and speed-reliability of transactions. The above is increasingly supported by digital transformation and the adaptation of those rules and regulations that are necessary.
