Ana Luiza Duarte de Barros Dourado has been the general counsel and legal director of Grupo Verzani e Sandrini, a full-facilities services and parking garage company since 2017. Managing a 25 lawyer team, she handles all management contracts and litigation across all Brazilian states. With over 21 years of experience, 15 in the role of head of legal and compliance, Dourado has experience in private practice, asset management, wholesale, franchising, food, petrochemicals and plastic and healthcare. Due to her wealth of varied experience, she can provide general coverage across a wide range of legal areas including commercial, consumer, financial, tax, social security, labour, corporate law and more. She prides herself on strong leadership and project management and her recruitment of lawyers to join her team has been a key strength. She is an expert in corporate governance and civil, labour and tax court procedures across Brazil due to her adept handling of M&A, franchising, tender bidding and tax planning. At Grupo Verzani e Sandrini, she has recently implemented new key performance indicators speeding up the closure of agreements with labour claimants and has reduced around R$8m from the company’s labour claims accruals. She has implemented a process of organising contract preparation for sales stakeholders and corporate compliance procedures in order to enhance internal controls and reduce losses.
