Can you tell us about your most significant achievements and projects recently?

Among the most significant achievements and projects, we can highlight the presentation of the project for the enactment of the Departmental Law of Fairs of Santa Cruz, the municipal Law of Promotion and Cooperation to the Activities of FEXPOCRUZ, which consolidates the tax benefits for the organisation.

In 2020, for the first time in the institutional history, our most important multi-sector fair in Bolivia “Expocruz” did not take place. For the 2021 management, the generation of confidence was required so that this event could be held in times of pandemic in a face-to-face, safe, and responsible way. Thus, Expocruz 2021 “the reunion fair”, was considered the most representative fair in recent years, marking a milestone in the history of the organisation. FEXPOCRUZ stood out on the global map, as the fair with the largest number of visitors worldwide. Despite border closures, we had international delegations at the event. We strengthened ties with consulates, embassies, and international representations. We coordinated and communicated with public and private sector authorities and media, achieving 16% more coverage than in previous years. We obtained the following certifications and recognitions: 1) Safe Guard: International biosafety certification granted by Bureau Veritas, being the first certified venue in Bolivia; 2) Great Place To Work: Program that recognise the quality of the organisational culture; and 3) Award in the Industry Partner category “UFI – Awards 2021”, the first fairground entity in Bolivia to win this international award.

We coordinated legal and institutional actions for FEXPOCRUZ to become the most important Vaccination Center in the region.

We gave legal advice during the donation process of 36 hectares of land for the organisation, in addition to the 17 hectares of the current property, consolidating FEXPOCRUZ as one of the most important properties in the continent.

What is a cause, business-related or otherwise, that concerns you and why?

FEXPOCRUZ is a non-profit and private organisation, which promotes through its activities, the development of the different business and agricultural sectors of Bolivia, creating vast business opportunities. FEXPOCRUZ organises fairs, events and conventions that allow us to show the community that Bolivia able to promote, organise and develop events of international stature. Our fairs bring together more than 1 million visitors per year, with an estimated impact of over 70,000 jobs generated. We generate 23 fairs and exhibitions during the year with over 3,000 exhibiting brands. Restrictive measures are a concern; we have demonstrated that we are capable of carrying out safe and responsible events.

How does your legal team plan to contribute to the growth and expansion of your organisation in the coming months?

2022 began with new challenges, optimisations, continuous improvements in organisational matters and rethinking of our business model. We will continue working under the best practices and trends worldwide. We must continue to, responsibly, manage the organisation, complying with the guidelines of our Board of Directors.
