James specialises in private & public children law, having exclusively practiced in this area since 2020. James joined Chambers in 2025 having previously practised in Middlesbrough.

James is committed to providing pragmatic and sensible advice alongside robust representation for all clients he represents. He has been repeatedly praised for his client care in cases with vulnerable clients, as well as the quality of his written work.

He has a particular interest in cases with an unusual factual matrix and esoteric areas of law, James has experience of being led in cases of significant complexity.
Public Law
Within public law, James is regularly instructed at all stages of proceedings on behalf of Local Authorities, parents, children & other family members in cases concerning:

• Non accidental injuries
• Sexual abuse
• Drugs / Alcohol abuse
• Neglect
• Assessment of carers & placement of children in foreign jurisdictions

Private Law
James regularly deals with contact disputes, relocation and finding of fact hearings including those concerning allegations of

• Parental alienation
