Position

Josh specialises in criminal law. He enjoys a busy mixed practice of prosecution and defence work and welcomes instructions in both the Crown and Magistrates’ Court. Additionally, Josh has a keen interest in Inquests, Regulatory and Professional Disciplinary work. Since completing pupillage under the supervision of Gemma Maxwell in October, Josh has achieved excellent results in a number of cases including:

  • R v AH [2025]: Trial at Bolton Crown Court for possession with intent to supply Class A.
  • R v LC [2025]: Trial of Issue at Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court for threatening with an offensive weapon in a public place.

Josh is a strategic advocate who utilises a forensic approach to case analysis underlined by strong interpersonal skills to achieve the very best results for his clients.

Career

Prior to working as a barrister, Josh was a paralegal in the civil litigation department of an eminent London criminal defence firm, ranked Band 1 and Tier 1 in both Chambers UK Bar and Legal 500 legal directories. Josh worked extensively on the Grenfell Tower Inquiry, developing experience of alternative dispute resolution and working with vulnerable clients. He additionally worked on a range of high-profile Article 2 Inquests and civil claims. Josh also worked for the United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, researching and producing legal briefs on human rights.
