Hollie Birkett

Hollie Birkett

Work Department

Personal injury, Clinical negligence, Disease Data & information law

Position

Hollie has built a strong personal injury and disease practice following completion of pupillage at a highly ranked Midlands-based personal injury set in 2018/19. Instructions in these areas comprise the majority of her work. She is expanding her practice to include more complex clinical and professional negligence cases. Additionally, due to her background as a police cadet, she has a developing interest in police regulatory work.

Hollie also conducts trials in credit hire and counter fraud cases, regularly receiving repeat instructions due to her comprehensive understanding of the relevant case law. She also receives instructions in the ever-evolving legal field of data protection, information, and privacy law and undertakes housing disrepair work.

Instructions are received from both claimants and defendants in all areas of practice. This enables Hollie to critically analyse a case from both sides and provide realistic and practical advice on its strengths and weaknesses.

Hollie has been described by both lay and professional clients as being approachable, reassuring, compelling, having an eye for detail, and “one to watch” in the future.

Education

LLB Law, 2014-2017,  University of Nottingham: Upper Second Class Degree. First in five of seven core modules. LLM Law/BPTC, 2017-2018, Nottingham Law School, Nottingham Trent University: Master’s Degree with Distinction.

Personal

Outside of work Hollie enjoys travelling and immersing herself in new, and historic, cultures. She is also a keen gym-goer and passionate football fan.

As a result of being a police cadet from 2011 to 2013, Hollie understands the importance of discipline, punctuality, and interpersonal skills. Her time as a cadet also gave her a unique insight into policing and community support services.
