Caroline Rees KC is a leading criminal Silk with a distinguished practice spanning serious sexual offences, homicide, and organised crime. She leads the criminal team at 30 Park Place and is widely recognised for her sensitive handling of vulnerable witnesses, as well as her exceptional courtroom advocacy.
As a junior, Caroline developed particular expertise in rape and serious sexual offence cases, including those involving multiple complainants, historic allegations, and vulnerable witnesses. She played a key role in the Circuit-wide rollout of specialist advocacy training for cases involving the vulnerable, and continues to be instructed in this complex and demanding area.
Since taking Silk in 2018, she has appeared in some of the most high-profile and harrowing homicide cases in Wales, including the nationally reported prosecutions arising from the deaths of Logan Mwangi, Lola James, and Kaylea Titford.
Caroline acts for both the Prosecution and Defence and is regularly instructed in large-scale cases involving modern slavery, drugs supply, and serious organised crime.
She is the current Leader of the Wales and Chester Circuit (the first woman elected to that role) and also sits as a Recorder of the Crown Court and as Legal Chair of the Mental Health Review Tribunal Wales. Caroline is a longstanding advocate for equality and social mobility within the profession.
