Liam Ryan

Career

Liam Ryan has a civil practice, split between high value and complex personal injury and clinical negligence actions, with a particular niche in psychiatric injury matters. He is commercially astute, realistic in his advice and unflinching in the face of challenging work and conflict. He is instructed by both Claimants and Defendants from the start to the conclusion of claims.

He is one of the most sought-after specialists in “stress at work” claims at the UK Bar, the author of both editions of the “practical guide to psychiatric injury”, draftsman of the current “Bullying Bill” before parliament, and was shortlisted for the Legal 500 Personal Injury Junior of the Year in 2023. Liam has dedicated his practice to work in this field and he endeavours to shape and develop the law in this growing, niche and complex area. He has been and continues to be involved in some of the most significant claims in this field in recent years.

Liam is always keen to undertake work that is novel and complex. In his clinical negligence practice, he is sought out to act in claims with a complex psychiatric component where his significant knowledge and interest in the underlying medical science pertaining to such injury brings a unique point of difference to such claims.

His commercial practice is focused on employment relationships, data protection, privacy and costs issues and increasingly intersects with his stress at work practise.
