Position
Barrister at Hogarth Chambers. Called in 2021.
Career
Bella undertakes work across the breadth of Chambers’ practice areas, covering soft IP, hard IP and all manner of commercial chancery matters.
Bella began her time at the Bar with a strong focus on patent litigation and was involved in a variety of multi-million-pound disputes in the High Court and the Court of Appeal. She then developed a wide-reaching and successful practice, working on matters across all spectrums of commercial chancery work. This included all aspects of intellectual property, media and entertainment, insolvency, employment, contract, and company law. Within Bella’s core IP practice, this breadth of work makes her excellently suited to commercial cases with an intellectual property element.
Bella is experienced in taking matters from the initial stages of drafting, through to final hearings and trials, regularly appearing unled in tribunals, the County Court and the High Court. She has extensive advocacy experience beyond her years, representing clients in matters ranging from interim applications to multi-day trials.
Bella has also worked in-house for a technology company, leading their legal team in contract negotiations and drafting, establishing and maintaining intellectual property protections, and handling their litigation. This experience, combined with her extensive commercial practice, ensures Bella has a strong commercial and practical approach.
Before joining Chambers, Bella undertook pupillage while simultaneously achieving a distinction on the Postgraduate Diploma in Intellectual Property Law at Oxford University. Prior to that, Bella worked for Friends of the Earth on their legal team, assisting in judicial review claims against the Government. Combined with her degree in Mechanical Engineering from Imperial College London, Bella has a strong technical mindset, aptly suited to complex disputes.
