Position
Thomas Lazur is recognised as a leading junior in construction, engineering and international arbitration disputes. He is instructed across the full spectrum of complex construction and infrastructure claims, acting in high-value litigation, international arbitrations and adjudication-related proceedings.
Thomas is particularly noted for combining first-rate advocacy with a deep understanding of the technical and commercial issues that underpin major projects. His practice spans energy, transport infrastructure, offshore construction, defence, shipbuilding, residential development and professional negligence disputes, with experience of projects throughout the UK, Middle East, Europe, Asia and Africa.
Much of Thomas's work involves acting as lead counsel in substantial final account, delay, defects and professional negligence claims. He is equally valued for providing clear, commercially focused strategic advice at an early stage of disputes, helping clients navigate both legal and practical project risks. His practice is split broadly equally between international arbitration and High Court work, and he has extensive experience of arbitrations under ICC, LCIA, LMAA and other arbitral rules.
In addition to his work as counsel, Thomas is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (FCIArb), a TECBAR accredited adjudicator, certified mediator and Inner Temple Advocacy Trainer. He is also a contributor to a number of leading construction law publications.
Shortlisted for Construction and Energy Junior of the Year at the Legal 500 Bar Awards 2026, Thomas is described in the directories as “an excellent advocate”, “extremely responsive, energetic and user-friendly” and someone who combines meticulous preparation with a strong understanding of the broader commercial picture.
