Position

Bethany is developing a busy common law practice, across the full range of Chambers’ specialisms. The breadth of Bethany’s experience as a barrister and in her previous career roles in the private and public sectors, means she is well positioned to work with professional and lay clients from all walks of life.

Bethany regularly appears in the Crown Court and Magistrates’ Court, prosecuting and defending criminal matters. She has advised on disclosure issues and legal privilege sifts. She is also regularly instructed by the police and has successfully made applications for civil orders under the Sexual Offences Act 2003, such as Sexual Harm Prevention Orders and Stalking Protection Orders.

Bethany has a broad civil practice and has achieved success for clients in both small claims and fast track matters. She regularly appears in the County Court and has experience in personal injury, occupiers’ and public liability matters. She has also acted in stage 3 hearings, approval hearings, and interlocutory applications.

In her family law practice, Bethany appears in both private and public family matters. She has experience working with vulnerable parties, and those facing allegations of domestic abuse. She also accepts instructions on both Schedule 1 and Matrimonial Causes finance proceedings.  She is also committed to pro-bono work as a member of the Family Panel at the legal charity, Advocate.

Bethany has a growing Court of Protection practice, and has experience in matters concerning capacity, challenges to standard authorisations, and incapacitous marriages.

She is also a qualified mediator, having trained with the London School of Mediation in 2024.

Prior to coming to Chambers, Bethany gained a broad range of experience. She worked in the legal advisory teams in the Cabinet Office and the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government, following successful completion of her pupillage with the Government Legal Department. She advised on high profile commercial, immigration and contractual matters during that time. Before her legal career, Bethany worked as a management consultant, and volunteered as a debt adviser, advising and empowering individuals struggling with debt in South-West London.

Outside work, Bethany is the singer in a semi-professional function band, performing at parties and gig venues around the UK.
