Dara Foody

Position

Dara Foody joined Tanfield Chambers in September 2026 upon the successful completion of his pupillage. He is a Chancery barrister who is developing a broad practise across all of Chambers' specialisms, especially real property, landlord and tenant (both residential and commercial), and trusts and probate.

Dara has a particular interest in disputes concerning real property (including land registration and legal charges), and leasehold enfranchisement. During the practising period of his pupillage, he gained particular experience in relation to service charges, enfranchisement, forfeiture, issues arising under the Landlord and Tenant (Covenants) Act 1995, possession proceedings, disrepair, and injunctions. He regularly appears at hearings and trials in both the County Court and the First-tier Tribunal.

Recent instructions include advising upon the enforceability of a historic legal charge, successfully acting for a management company in a service charge dispute, and advising upon liability for rent arrears arising under a backdated rent review following an assignment of the lease.

Before coming to the Bar, Dara was a paralegal at Keystone Law, where he assisted with a range of prime and super prime residential property transactions. He also completed a Master of Jurisprudence, which focused upon how 'mistake' should be construed for the purposes of Schedule 4 to the Land Registration Act 2002. During this time, Dara taught land law to undergraduate students.
