Juan is recognised as a leading senior junior specialising in infrastructure and planning, energy, construction (building safety and remediation, energy, transportation and highways), compulsory purchase and compensation and related real estate litigation. Juan appears before all tribunals, in arbitration and in adjudication. Juan’s practice has an international dimension (US, UAE, Southeast Asia, EU). Juan also acts as a dispute resolver and is an accredited Mediator and Expert. He is a contributor to leading legal practitioner texts.

Infrastructure and Planning: specialising in major energy and transportation schemes, waste and contaminated land, mining extraction and restoration, regeneration, marine and strategic flood, and related environmental law. Juan is Band 1 recommended (Legal 500).

Energy: advising in all aspects of consenting, disputes and regulation, specialising in renewables (including electricity distribution network and transmission infrastructure, wayleave and licence agreements), decommissioning,  gas, code rights, and waste.

Construction: acting in all types of construction and engineering disputes, including defects and delay, building remediation (structural, insulation and asbestos), major road and rail, O&G decommissions, renewables and CCUS, and strategic flood. Advising on all forms of contract.

Real Estate: Advising in particular on building remediation, nuisance, trespass, options, overage, and leasehold enfranchisement.

Compulsory Purchase & Compensation: Advising on CPOs, T&WAOs (acquiring authorities and objectors); compensation (both before UT(LC) and CAADs), wayleaves and infrastructure consenting, land valuation, and blight.

Highways & Rights of Way: Advising on all aspects of highways, strategic traffic/vehicle management systems and national networks, and DMMOs (creation, diversion and extinguishment).
