Career

Adam Stanley is a Business and Property pupil under the supervision of Claire Bunbury. Adam is accepting instructions from 17 March 2025.

In 2022, Adam qualified as a solicitor and practised as an associate at an international law firm in a Band 1 ranked Insolvency and Restructuring team. As a solicitor, Adam specialised in both corporate and personal insolvency litigation. He also has experience with transactional and advisory work, including distressed real estate and corporate restructuring. Before qualifying as a solicitor, Adam worked for the UK’s largest business rescue and recovery firm and passed the Certificate of Proficiency in Insolvency (CPI) with merit.

During his first six, Adam has seen a broad spectrum of work, in all of the areas in which the team specialises. Adam welcomes instructions across all of Chambers’ Business and Property practice areas, including Insolvency, Employment, Property and Probate law.

PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE

Adam’s experience before transferring to the Bar includes:

Working for the administrators of Wigan Athletic Football Club, which included trading the club during the 2019-20 season, working with potential purchasers, and preparing for the sporting sanction appeal; Acting for Manolete Partners Plc in the case of Manolete v White [2023] EWHC 567 (Ch) and the subsequent appeal Manolete v White [2024] EWCA Civ 1418, which concerned the application and interpretation of section 91 of the Pensions Act 1995 in the context of enforcing a judgment debt; Acting for clients including Santander, NatWest, OakNorth Bank, FRP, Kroll, Alvarez & Marsal, Manolete Partners Plc, and the Co-op Group in respect of Part 7 claims, claims under the Insolvency Act 1986, and enforcement actions; Acting for Alvarez & Marsal following their appointment as administrators/liquidators of companies within the Aartee Steel Group, which included acting on the cases of Re Aartee Bright Bar Ltd (in administration) [2023] EWHC 606 (Ch) and Re Aartee Steel Group Ltd [2023] EWHC 1701 (Ch); and Acting for a well-known national brand in defending a circa £500 million claim brought against them by the administrators of a former group company.
