Matthew is a specialist public law barrister with particular expertise in immigration law and judicial review. His practice also encompasses statutory appeals, inquests, public inquiries and regulatory law

Matthew has particular expertise in judicial review claims concerning unlawful detention and breaches of human rights and asylum-support duties, as well as sponsorship licence revocations and a range of civil penalty appeals. He appears regularly before the Court of Appeal, the High Court of Justice and the Upper Tribunal.

Matthew also specialises in advising international clients on business immigration matters, including the duties and compliance guidance applicable to sponsor licence holders. He further assists hauliers in disputes arising under the Carrier Liability Regulations 2023.
