Jonathan is a highly regarded leading junior with over a decade of specialist experience in extradition. He advises on a broad range of related matters including INTERPOL, mutual legal assistance, sanctions, and sentence transfers.

He has a burgeoning practice in public law and has been appointed to the Attorney General’s Civil Panel of Counsel (B panel).

Career

Jonathan is instructed in complex, sensitive, and high-profile extradition proceedings before Westminster Magistrates’ Court and the High Court, and he has appeared in the Supreme Court. His cases have involved allegations of murder, terrorism, human trafficking, and substantial financial crime, and have attracted national and international media attention.

He combines detailed, forensic preparation with strategically focused advocacy. His experience of both prosecution and defence informs his tactical approach. He has developed extensive knowledge of legal, evidential, and prison-conditions issues across multiple jurisdictions, and is adept at both technical challenges and human rights bars.

He is a regular contributor to CrimeLine’s Extradition Hub. 

Recent cases include:

Shahoud v Sweden [2026] EWHC 719 (Admin)  - arguing that solitary confinement and overcrowding in Swedish prisons would breach Article 3 ECHR. 

Hebda v Poland [2025] EWHC 860 (Admin) - successfully argued that extradition for alleged £2 million fraud would be unjust and oppressive due to Appellant’s severe mental‑health issues.
