Career

Toby joined Chambers in October 2021 following successful completion of his pupillage. He has a busy practice in the Crown Court, both led and unled, prosecuting and defending in a wide range of criminal matters. He has been praised by judges for his ‘outstanding commitment’, ‘very able submissions’, and ‘excellent client care’ which goes ‘above and beyond the call of duty’.

He has experience in representing young and vulnerable defendants, and is familiar with all aspects of the youth justice system. He has completed vulnerable witness training organised by the Inns of Court College of Advocacy (ICCA).

Current Crown Court instructions include serious offences of violence, drugs, and sex.

Toby spent three months on secondment to the NMC in 2023.

Outside of the law, Toby is a keen sportsman and chess player, and spent one summer walking 900 miles across Europe for charity. Toby speaks lower intermediate level French and Russian, and basic Italian and Georgian.
