Position
Nathan Roberts practises in employment, discrimination, public and other related practice areas, including human rights and education. He has acted in all domestic appellate courts and in the European Court of Human Rights.
Career
Nathan’s recent cases include:
Ferguson v United Kingdom (ongoing) – an ongoing case in the European Court of Human Rights, in which Nathan represents the applicants whose right to same-sex marriage in Bermuda has been repealed.
Sullivan v Isle of Wight Council [2025] EWCA Civ 379 – representing Protect (the whistleblowing organisation) on whether job applicants should have whistleblowing protections.
British Airways Plc v Rollett [2025] ICR 242 – the leading case on s.19A Equality Act 2010 before Eady P, acting as sole counsel for the Minister for Women and Equalities defending the vires of s.19A
Harpur Trust v Brazel [2022] UKSC 21 – a Supreme Court judgment on the application of the pro rata temporis principle to part-time workers’ annual leave.
R (FDJ) v Secretary of State for Justice [2021] EWHC 1746 (Admin) – a judicial review concerning the location of transgender prisoners on the women’s prison estate.
