David Horwich

Position

David has trained in Atkin Chambers’ core specialisms of construction, engineering and infrastructure, energy, and professional negligence. He has also gained experience in insurance and property disputes. David has experience of all stages of litigation and adjudication and is familiar with a variety of standard form contracts including the JCT and NEC forms.

David studied at Magdalen College, Oxford where he obtained a first-class BA and an MSt with distinction in Modern Languages, having specialised in 16th and 17th century French literature. He was also a William Doncaster and Exhibition scholar. David subsequently obtained a commendation and distinction in the GDL and Bar Course from City, University of London. He was awarded scholarships by both the Inner Temple and City Law School. Alongside his legal studies, David also worked pro bono for two charities offering free advice and representation in housing, employment and education law.

Prior to commencing pupillage, David spent a year working as a County Court Advocate with a London law firm. He appeared before district judges in county courts across the South East of England. This work included trials in the small claims track; various interim applications; landlord and tenant and mortgage possession claims; and bankruptcy proceedings.
