Position
Jane Withington is a family law barrister at 3PB’s Birmingham chambers, joining in October 2023. She brings over 17 years of experience as a qualified solicitor specialising in children matters and accredited to the Law Society’s Children Panel in January 2014.
Jane’s practice centres on public law children work, representing local authorities, parents, extended family members, and children through their Guardian and separately. Jane conducts complex cases including those involving neglect, abuse and serious injuries, representing and guiding clients through every stage of the proceedings.
A robust advocate, Jane represents clients through every step of the court process—from urgent emergency applications to multi-day fact-finding and final hearings. She pairs meticulous preparation with steely resolve and delivers clear, candid advice. Highly driven and client-focused, Jane is unwavering in her commitment to securing the best possible outcomes for those she represents.
Jane has successfully completed the Advocacy and the Vulnerable Training Programme with the Inns of Court College of Advocacy and Family Law Bar Association.

Former family law solicitor-turned barrister Jane Withington (formerly Jane Hayward), who qualified as a solicitor in 2006, has a strong caseload focused on public law care work, where she represents all parties, including local authorities, parents, grandparents and children, amongst others.
