Clive is a European and UK patent attorney based in the London office. He joined J A Kemp in 2016, became an associate in 2021 and was promoted to partner in 2026

His practice focuses on patent drafting and prosecution in the engineering and IT sectors. He has particular experience in electronics, HMI hardware, wireless communication, audio and image processing (including object detection, use of AI, etc.), optical devices, mass spectrometry, microlithography, mechanical devices and medical devices.

Clive manages complex, multi-jurisdictional patent portfolios and prosecutes applications before the European Patent Office and the UK Intellectual Property Office.

Before entering the patent profession, Clive worked in the nuclear power industry and achieved chartered engineer status. His academic background spans a broad range of engineering disciplines, with a focus on thermodynamics and fluid dynamics. He also has hands-on experience in 3D printing, computer programming and digital electronics.
