Career

Ariel Portnoy is a corporate and M&A lawyer and head of entertainment law at DLA Piper Argentina. He is also co-head of the Sports &Entertainment practice in Latin America. Portnoy is a lawyer with extensive experience advising foreign companies doing business inArgentina. He focuses his practice on gaming, e-gaming, betting, e-gambling, entertainment, media, and sports, from sponsorship tolicensing and merchandising. He graduated from the University of Cuyo (1991). ​

He subsequently completed a postgraduate degree at Cornell Law School (1999). He has extensive experience advising foreign companiesdoing business in Argentina. ​

Ariel also served as an advisor to the Argentine Ministry of Economy between 1994 and 1998. He was a member of the EvaluationCommission for the Modernization of the Water and Sanitation Industry in Argentina. ​

He participated in numerous privatizations of state-owned companies in Argentina. Among his recent experiences, Ariel currently advisesGames Global, Inspired, and Kambi on their operations in Argentina. He has also advised a large number of operators on their activities inArgentina, such as Stars Group, Rush Street Interactive, and others. ​

In his most recent operations, Ariel advised on the cross-border acquisition of Futbol Sites Network Group (FSN) by Playmaker Capital Inc, adigital sports media company at the intersection of sports, media, gaming, and technology. He also advised Univam (Boldplay brand), a B2Bcasino software developer, on its registration in the Register of Manufacturers and Suppliers to carry out online gaming activities under theBuenos Aires City Lottery. He also advised Betano, one of the world's largest online betting companies, on obtaining a license for onlinegaming operations in the Province of Buenos Aires. The license was granted by the Provincial Institute of Lottery and Casinos (IPLYC).
