Intellectual Property

Position

Anna is a partner in Dentons' Intellectual Property practice, heading up our UK and EU trade mark prosecution practice which spans the UK and Ireland. She advises on all aspects of trade mark and design prosecution, including developing global filing and enforcement strategies, executing large-scale clearance projects and, most commonly, handling high volumes of opposition work around the world and advising on complex cross-border disputes. Anna has almost 20 years of experience working with a vast array of companies from high-growth start-ups to long-established multinational corporations and is regarded as a key lawyer by Legal 500 2025, which notes that she is "a senior trade mark attorney with excellent knowledge of the law and first-rate client handling skills". She has also been listed as a notable practitioner by Managing Intellectual Property, IP Stars 2025 and has been featured in World Trade Mark Review's WTR 1000, which states that "Anna is focused, quick and provides comprehensive strategic advice".

Anna is especially skilled at developing bespoke strategies for large-scale IP portfolios to ensure they are optimised at all stages of the lifecycle and enforced robustly to help maintain and build brand value. She manages one of the largest UK-led, global trade mark portfolios for the Sky Group of companies, which includes hundreds of contentious actions playing out around the world at any one time. Anna enjoys written and aural advocacy, representing clients directly before the UK IPO before the most Senior Hearing Officers. For example, she successfully defended 20 non-use revocation attacks launched by Samsung against our client (Swatch), which culminated in 13 almost back-to-back hearings over the course of a month relating to world-famous brands such as Longines, Omega, Tissot and Swatch.

Anna graduated from the University of Edinburgh with a first-class degree in Biological Sciences with Honours in Neuroscience, for which she was awarded the Class Prize. She was also awarded the John Parker Memorial Award for obtaining the highest mark in her Trade Mark practice paper, whilst qualifying as a UK and EU trade mark attorney. Anna's natural aptitude for science means she has an affinity for (and importantly enjoys) legal research, helping her stay abreast of the ever-developing body of trade mark case law.
