Mr. Ham began his legal career in the US Department of Health and Human Services in the General Counsel’s office, spent a significant number of years with prominent global law firms (Baker & McKenzie and Alston & Bird) in their healthcare and pharmaceutical practice teams, and led the in-house legal team at CJ E&M and at Seegene. At Seegene, a Korea based global diagnostics company, Mr. Ham also led the business development function as a member of the company’s senior management. Before joining Dentons Lee, Mr. Ham was a partner at Jipyong, a top ranked Korean law firm.

Mr. Bernard Ham leads the Life Sciences and Healthcare team at the firm and focuses his practice on complex cross-border transactions, intellectual property, and regulatory compliance matters. Mr. Ham represents a broad range of clients from start-up to multinational companies in various industries, including pharmaceutical, medical device, diagnostics, healthcare, manufacturing, automotive, technology, and entertainment.
For life sciences clients, Mr. Ham advises on transactions in all phases of a product lifecycle with a particular focus on structuring and negotiating licensing and collaboration transactions relating to discovery and clinical stage products and technologies. Mr. Ham also provides counselling on various compliance matters in clinical development, manufacturing, and post-regulatory approval such as sales and marketing.
As a member of the firm’s Mobility team, Mr. Ham advises on corporate transactions, labor and employment matters, regulatory compliance and commercial litigation for automotive and manufacturing clients. Mr. Ham has the experience of representing 1st and 2nd tier automotive supplier companies to Hyundai Motor Group in their investments in the states of Alabama and Georgia in the United States and serving as an outside general counsel for a number of such companies doing business in the US southeast region.
Mr. Ham speaks at industry conferences on various subject matters, including healthcare/life sciences regulations, corporate transactions, intellectual property, and management of in-house legal function. Mr. Ham currently serves as the organizer and lead speaker in the “Regulations and Bio Business” webinar series hosted by Korea Biotechnology Industry Organization.
